Welcome to Mommy Scoreboard

Here we go! My name is Quiana but feel free to call me Q as many of my basketball buddies do.

As a parent of three wonderful children (1 school age and toddler twins), a highly skilled (recreational) basketball player, a full-time (currently teleworking) employee, a phenomenal friend and so on, my scoreboard runneth over.

You might have the question…Mommy Scoreboard, what is this all about?

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary a “Scoreboard” is defined as a large board for displaying the score of a game or match. A scoreboard also displays the time and other important statistics. Sports, mainly basketball has and continues to be an integral part of my life so the principles and strategies of the game are embedded in how I observe and navigate things.

Mommy Scoreboard is about how I keep my head in the “game” while ensuring my home and away teams come out victorious on the “scoreboard.” Additionally, Mommy Scoreboard will delve deeper into how our passions intertwine, overlap, collide, motivate and elevate us to get things done against some of our biggest opponents such as time, fear and did I mention, TIME.

There are 3 things that I am most passionate about:

  • My family
  • Basketball
  • Winning

So if you are an amazing athlete, like me (and by amazing that’s however you define the word), a parent, someone who enjoys sports or just wants to be part of this community lace up your kicks and get ready for tip-off. That was a little cheesy, but you get the picture!

First question, how do you navigate your world of being an athlete and parent at the same time?

Hello and welcome to Mommy Scoreboard. It’s been several years but I remember starting my college application essay with the sentence, “You can always find me with a pen in one hand a basketball in the other.” I enjoy writing but the sport of basketball has been my ultimate joy. Fast forward and now I am the proud parent of three children, a happily married woman and an accomplished recreational basketball player. If I had to update my essay sentence it would read, “You can always find me with a pen, a basketball, a kid or two, a mobile device, a skillet, random toy part, a sippy cup, baby wipes, hand sanitizer and face masks in my hands”…WOW, have times gotten better!
